Kitchen Organizing Tips

At home, we spend most of our time in the kitchen, wherein we cook our food, do the dish washing and etc. In order to do this tasks well, proper organization is needed. But thinking of those tasks may seem so daunting and you may just never do it. The best way to start a big task is to start with the simpler ones and think of one thing at a time.

Here are some easy kitchen organizing tips you need to know:

1. Mentally Prepare – take a look at your kitchen and make a plan on what to do, what can be put away and what you don’t need anymore.

2. Organize Kitchen Cabinets – take out everything in your cabinets, clean and categorize your glasses, plates, trays and so on. By doing this, you will save a lot of time during cooking.

3. Clean your Pantry – oftentimes we buy things we already have because we can’t find them anywhere. So, take out everything in your pantry, clean it and place back the things according to its category. Have a different shelf for your dry and canned goods and basket for smaller items. This will make easier to avoid spillage from opened packets.

4. Use a spice rack – using a spice rack may save a lot of cabinet space and may have your spices close at hand. Label your spices and place the ones you often use at the front of the rack.

5. Clear your Counter Tops – remove items which you do not use regularly and store them in a cabinet. Group your appliances together for convenience.

6. Organize that Junk Drawer – just because we call it “junk drawer”, it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be organized. Take a look and throw out any items that are not needed. Place a small basket wherein you can put your items such as batteries, clips and other interesting things you’ve seen on your kitchen.

7. Clean up your Cleaning Products – have a plastic dish drainer and place it under your sink. It’ll make easier for you to organize cleaning products, sponges and etc.

8. Clean that Fridge – every time you go shopping and grocery, clean up your fridge. You may not notice some of your things have gone bad, emptied and etc. Throw out all these items and give your fridge a good wipe. Bacteria in fridges may accumulate quickly and spoils the food. So make sure to clean it at least once a
week.

9. Set up a Message Station – set up a specific place for the telephone, messages, keys and etc. By having this, you can save time and you will keep reminded of the task you need to do for that day.

10. Invest and be Clutter Free – invest on the products and gadgets that are inexpensive and at the same time will make your job much easier. A simple pegboard where you can keep your notes and photos of your kids can be a lifesaver. Same thing goes for a plastic bag organizer or good spice rack. These little investments may be a time saver and may contribute a lot to a pleasant and welcoming kitchen.

Important Gadgets Found in Your Kitchen

One of the most important parts of the house is the kitchen. Whether you’ve got a stylish bachelor pad, a country farmhouse or any other type of, then you’ll no doubt spend some time on it.

Below are the 10 most essential kitchen accessories.

1. A good corkscrew with a bottle opener doesn’t have to cost a fortune, but it does have to be reliable. There’s nothing harder than opening a bottle of wine without a corkscrew.

2. Using an electric tin opener can be invaluable for those with limited mobility. However, a good tin opener will be reliable and easy to use.

3. If your vegetables usually end up tasteless, then a steamer will help you to produce crunchy colouful vegetable that taste as nature intended them to. A steamer helps to ensure that your vegetables retain its freshness, much of their goodness and vitamins.

4. Coffee drinkers oftentimes appreciate the importance of a coffee machine. Instant coffee may be easier and quicker, but it doesn’t taste anything like as good as freshly made coffee.

5. Different types of loose teas such as green tea and black tea needs brewing for different lengths of time at different water temperatures to make the best cup of tea. A tea machine will do the making and provide you with a cup of your favorite loose tea every time.

6. Good pans are worth the investment if you intend to cook regularly. Cheaper pans may not seem to offer anything different to the expensive ones. But the better the pan, the more efficient it will be. Like in the case of frying pans, a better pan will need less oil, meaning the food you are going to fry will be better for you.

7. You may not understand why one knife is much more expensive than the other. It is only when you use a better or more expensive knife that you realize that there really is a difference. A good knife will fit well in the hand, and stay sharp for much longer than a lesser knife. Being accurate with a knife is important, so treat yourself to a good set of knives.

8. Accurate scales are important to ensure that the quantities are right. Digital ones are the most accurate but some people would prefer the traditional styles that you need to put the weights on to balance the scales.

9. Good glasses aren’t just for display purposes. Having the glasses you got years ago might be fine for soft drinks but you won’t want to drink nice wine or cocktails from them. Glasses don’t have to be too expensive, and only you will know how much use you will get from them.

10. Vegetable rack is a permanent reminder of what vegetables you’ve eaten and so need to be replaced. You will have no excuse for not eating your five portions a day if you keep your vegetables on a rack.

Try out some of these gadgets and accessories especially if you’re moving house, doing up kitchen or looking to replace some old kitchenware.
